Moog Modular 55
Moog Modular 55

Synthesizers use a number of different technologies or programmed algorithms to generate signal, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Among the most popular waveform synthesis techniques are subtractive synthesis, additive synthesis, wavetable synthesis, frequency modulation synthesis, phase distortion synthesis, physical modeling synthesis and sample-based synthesis. Also other sound synthesis methods including subharmonic synthesis used on mixture trautonium, granular synthesis resulting Soundscape or Cloud, are rarely used.

‪Synthesizers are often controlled with a piano-style keyboard, leading such instruments to be referred to simply as “keyboards”. Several other forms of controller have been devised to resemble fingerboards, guitars (guitar synthesizer), violins, wind instruments (wind controller), drums and percussions (electronic drum), etc. Synthesizers without controllers are often called “sound modules”, and they can be controlled using MIDI or CV/Gate methods.‬

Up for sale is KORG MS-10 vintage analog synthesizer. A classic analog synth released by Korg in 1978, known for its great bass and percussive sounds. A great predecessor of the classic MS-20.

Detail
Detail

The unit appears to be working fine, however I noticed F2 key is not responding when you press. Apart from that, all other keys, knobs, and patches worked fine as I tested accordingly to the owner’s manual. There is a bit of scratch noise on the knobs, which should also do with some cleaning/servicing.

Cosmetically its in reasonable condition for its age. There are some wear and blemishes here and there, a minor chip on one of the keys, and some oxidation on the patch bay as shown. I’m including plenty of pictures so you can see exactly how it looks. I’m including one patch cable as shown. Buy it now on eBay!

Up for sale is rare Korg LAMBDA ES-50 vintage analog synthesizer. The unit appears to be working reasonably well, apart from some of the issues I noticed as below.

Detail
Detail

- A bit of noise on the knobs and sliders, and on the joystick.
- Some switches had slight bad contact at the start, but were responding fine after a while.
- Attack knob on ENSEMBLE section seem not working.
- 2C# key seem to have bad response in PERCUSSIVE presets. The key is fine in ENSEMBLE.
- There was a constant noise when I first turned the unit on, but eventually disappeared after about 5 mins.

Detail
Detail

Otherwise, everything else appears to be working fine to the best of my knowledge, all other functions working and sounding well. Cosmetically its in reasonable condition for its age I guess. There are some wear and scuff marks here and there, signs of blemish and round corners on the wood parts, minor chip on one of the keys, and a bit of tape residue on the front panel as shown. All the original parts seem to be there in shape though. I’m including plenty of pictures so you can see exactly how it looks. Power cable included.

Sold as is for you to use with some servicing/adjustment done, if not use as they are. Buy it now on eBay!

**This unit was made for the Japanese market which runs on 100 volts. The USA market runs on 110 volts, basically it will work fine in the USA as its only a small voltage difference, but for optimal longevity of the unit I recommend a step down converter which you can buy for about $10- $20.

Korg Synthesizer

Vintage Korg Advertisement
Vintage Korg Advertisement

Korg Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation that manufactures electronic musical instruments, audio processors and guitar pedals, recording equipment, and electronic tuners. Founded in 1962 in Japan by Tsutomu Kato and Tadashi Osanai, Korg was originally known as Keio Gijutsu Kenkyujo Ltd. and later Keio Electronic Laboratories. The company’s first product, released in 1963, was an electro-mechanical rhythm device called the Disc Rotary Electric Auto Rhythm machine Donca matic DA-20. The name “Donca” was an onomatopoeic reference to the sound the rhythm machine made. During the 1970s, Korg’s synthesizer line was divided into instruments for the hobbyist, and large expensive patchable instruments such as the PS series. In the early ’80s, Korg branched out into the digital piano category.

Korg is credited with a number of innovations and landmark products. The “key transpose” function was Katoh’s idea after a singer at his club needed her accompaniment played in a lower key, which the accompanist wasn’t accomplished enough to do. Korg was the first company to feature effects on a synthesizer, and the first to use a “sample + synthesis” sound design. The M1 workstation, released in 1988, sold over 250,000 units, making it the bestselling synthesizer ever at that time.

Moog Synthesizer by Dr. Robert Arthur Moog

Minimoog Synthesizer
Minimoog Synthesizer

The Moog company pioneered the commercial manufacture of modular voltage-controlled analog synthesizer systems in the early 1950s. Company founder Dr. Robert Arthur Moog had begun manufacturing and selling vacuum-tube theremins in kit form while he was a student in the early 1950s and marketed his first transistorized theremin kits in 1961. The Moog synthesizer gained wider attention in the music industry after it was demonstrated at the Monterey International Pop Festival in 1967. In July, 1969 Dick Hyman’s recording of his jazz composition “The Minotaur” became the first Moog-based Billboard Top 40 hit single.

Robert Moog
Robert Moog

The key technological development that led to the creation of the Moog synthesizer was the invention of the transistor, which enabled researchers like Moog to build electronic music systems that were considerably smaller, cheaper and far more reliable than earlier systems, which depended on the older vacuum tube technology. According to the American Physical Society, “The first live performance of a music synthesizer was made by pianist Paul Bley at Lincoln Center in New York City on December 26, 1969. Bley developed a proprietary interface that allowed real-time performance on the music synthesizer.” However, according to biographical notes on the Hofstra University website, Herbert Deutsch gave a concert at the New York Town Hall on September 25, 1965 with his New York Improvisation Quartet which included the first live performance with a Moog synthesizer.

Up for sale is vintage KORG MS-20 Analog Semi-Modular Synthesizer [Serial# 141605]. This is a classic patchable monophonic synth that made its debut in 1978. The unit appears to be working well to the best of my knowledge, all the keys, knobs, and patches worked perfectly when I did a test accordingly to the owner’s manual. Maybe a slight noise on the knobs, which I guess could do with some cleaning/servicing. Cosmetically its in excellent condition as you can see from my pictures. There maybe some very minor wear here and there, but nothing major at all. The patch bay is clean, overall in very nice condition if you consider its age. Very rare. I’m including the original plastic patch sheet as shown.

ARP Odyssey

ARP Odyssey Mark I‬ (Model 2800)‬ – Produced between 1972 and 1975.‬

These original white-faced Odysseys used a 2-pole VCF filter design similar to old Oberheim SEM modules.‬ Later Mark Is were made with the black and gold color scheme, and some may also have the CV/Gate/Trigger interface jacks installed (ARP mod kit #6800101).‬ These earlier units contained a greater number of internal adjustments and were slightly more difficult to calibrate.‬

ARP Odyssey Mark II‬ (Model 2810-5)‬ – Produced between 1975 and 1978.‬

Odyssey-Mk-II

The Odysseys I and II look and feel virtually the same. The main difference between them are the addition of CV/Gate control and a new black and gold color scheme. The 2810 introduced a beefier 4-pole VCF. This filter was similar to the Moog filter and did not last. A persistent rumor has it that Moog sued ARP over this, but no suit ever occurred. Arp and Moog came to an amicable agreement and a small licensing fee was paid by ARP for units previously manufactured. ARP soon after designed their own four-pole, low-pass filters. They came up with the 4075 filter which was used in subsequent Odyssey models. The similar 4072 was featured in the 2600, Omni, Axxe, Solus, and others.‬

ARP Odyssey Mk III (Model 2820-2823)‬ – Produced from 1978 to 1981.‬
‪The Mk III featured the new 4075 filter design. The rest of its specifications are virtually identical to the Odyssey II except that the overall look and quality are further updated to match the look of the latest ARP synths with the orange and black “Halloween” color scheme. It also used a unique ARP pitch-bender design called the PPC (Proportional Pitch Control), where three pressure-sensitive buttons are used to control bend up, down, and vibrato; older Odysseys used a simple knob for pitch bending. The Odyssey Mk III is the most common Odyssey model.‬ Mk III Odysseys have XLR outputs, in addition to unbalanced 1/4″ outputs.‬

Arp Odyssey MKII 2813 Vintage Analog Synth

This listing has ended.

Black & Gold MKII Arp Odyssey 2813. There is a legitimate chance that this is the best playing, most stable Odyssey that you will be able to own for the foreseeable future. I have made a LOT of music with this machine, and it has never failed me. I have recently made a professional transition that is causing me to sell through things I swore I would never sell. This piece is one of them. Please know that this isn’t an auction for some piece of junk I’m dumping – this is an instrument worthy of any studio in the world and if you’re a passionate musician that’s been waiting for a machine that won’t cause you as much heart ache as it does satisfaction, this is the machine for you.

Detail

This synth can do so much. From hilariously unusable sound effects to meat n’ potatoes bass and leads, the Odyssey is legendary for a reason – it’s a totally inspiring machine to work with. The experience of using the real deal can in no way ever be replaced by emulations you prod at with a computer mouse. If you’re making music with feeling from an inspired place, I can assure you the interface of this machine will greatly improve your wanting to play/create. Soft synths are useful and awesome sounding, but they are not physical musical instruments that you can touch, see, and draw inspiration from. There are numerous other reasons why this synthesizer has ascended in rank to be considered equal and even superior in many ways over it’s competitor of yore the minimoog, but I will leave that information to the message board experts.

List of things I’ve had done to this machine:

  • - recapped power supply, new grounded power chord added
  • - complete overhaul of key bed (replaced j-wires, bushings, burnished bus bar)
  • - lit pot mod, replacement of all front panel switches and sliders (no more gunky, unresponsive parameters)
  • - high output and low output jacks switched so that high output is the 1/4″ jack (most sensible for modern applications)
  • - cleaning out of conductive solder flux
  • - fully calibrated and tuned up
Detail

All of these things were done by a VERY experienced tech, who was trained by ARP in the seventies to be a certified technician. This work is of the highest caliber, and I paid an arm and a leg for it. Moreover, I have never had a single problem with this machine after having it serviced. The switches and sliders being brand new makes such an enormous difference in the practical application of this synth into your workflow. Get the best of both worlds: vintage feel with modern dependability.

Detail

While having this work done, I ran out of money before the tech could run through the CV section. I was told it looked fine, and ought to work, but it was NOT tested. Being that I do not use CV in my studio for anything, I have no way to test this feature of the machine and cannot guarantee its function. I realize this function is important to other kinds of musicians, and in the event that something is wrong with the CV section of this Odyssey, a repair ought not to be prohibitively expensive. Please bid accordingly, though.

Yamaha Electone FX-1 Vintage FM Synthesizer Organ Keyboard with two (2) original Yamaha TX-1 tone cabinets. Look at our feedback history for the stellar feedback we received on our most recent Yamaha CS-80 sale!

Serial 1111
Serial Number 1111

For your consideration is a Yamaha FX-1. This polyphonic FM synthesizer is one of the rarest, most complex, and most expensive synthesizers ever built. Yamaha’s flagship FM synthesizer/organ son of the analog GX-1/EX-1 couple, and father to the DX-1, this beautiful instrument packs all the sonic possibilities of a standard organ and polyphonic synthesizer into one gigantic and unique package. If you think that the DX-1 is incredible, which it is, this is even better. The FX-1 is to the DX-1 what the GX-1 is to the CS-80. When released in 1983-4, the FX-1 had a $43,600 price tag (compared to the DX-1, which was released in 1984 with a $10,900 price tag). That’s $102,000 today when adjusted for inflation. It is the second most expensive synth that Yamaha ever made. It is rumored that less than 100 were built. Don’t miss your chance to get this extremely rare and incredible-sounding synthesizer for much, much less!

Detail

This auction includes the synthesizer, bass pedals, bench, and the two extremely rare and gorgeous-sounding (2) Yamaha TX-1 tone cabinets that originally came with this unit. This synth gained a few scratches and nicks on the back corner when it was recently moved to our new commercial location, but it essentially looks the same as it does in the pictures, which were taken the week prior. This synth is in excellent cosmetic condition. All the knobs and sliders that we have tested work perfectly, and we have tested virtually all of the buttons, sliders, knobs, and other function on this synthesizer.

Detail

This is a very large instrument – 45″ high x 60″ wide x 32″ deep and nearly 500 lbs! – and can only be shipped via freight. The $590 shipping cost is just an estimate. Within the Continental U.S., transportation costs (freight or mover) will vary depending on proximity to Los Angeles, and typically takes more than one we ek to schedule and deliver. International shipments will be considerably more expensive and will take around two weeks to schedule and deliver. AGAIN, PLEASE NOTE: This instrument is sold as-is, no returns.

Oberheim OBXa 8 voice 120 programs made in 1981. Geddy Lee used this model and it’s sound is all over the Signals album. Where to start? First she’s had her keybed restored with super low action. It almost feels like you’re playing a toy, I’m dead serious. Is just that light of a touch now. No more “click click.” The insides were gone thru and any bad capacitors and such were changed out. All the restoration like the keybed and caps were done by analogics.org.

Oberheim MRAM
Oberheim MRAM

Next I’ve added midi to her from electrongate.com which is the business of Paul White who worked at Oberheim all those years. The midi is the exact replica of the factory midi from the early days of Oberheim. Next I’ve added the MRam card which eliminates the need for a battery PLUS you can store an unlimited amount of programs if you can find it LoL. Of course all these upgrades are not permanent so you can go back to original if you wanted too. Lastly she got some brand new sides, awesome black walnut. Just look at that wood grain! The originals are not included.

Detail

I can’t think of anything else so please ask questions before bidding. I’ll try my best to get you the best shipping and if I overcharge you I promise to return the extra money to you. Look at my feedback. I’m game for any trade offers too. Let me know what you got. BTW who ever wins the auction will probably get a free Craftsman measuring tape LoL! I can’t find it and I’m pretty sure my little girl dropped it in the box as I was packing the synth up. Thank you for looking. Buy it now ships free to continental USA.

Roland TR-707 Vintage Drum Machine Sequencer. This item is in very good condition. It has recently had a minor service and is all in 100% working order. It has had a new power socket installed and is very sturdy. This is a common weak point for the 707.

The physical appearance is of a good quality. There is a small blemish on the lettering of the T & R but apart from that it is free from scratches and dirt. The item will be well packed and shipped, however without the power supply included. It is a common 12 volt DC adapter with negative centre.

This is a classic vintage analog (analogue) synth. It is a very sought after instrument that has been used extensively by various famous musicians. It sports 6 voice polyphony, analogue DCOs for super pitch stability and a full midi implementation. It has a 5 star rating at Vintage Synth Explorer which simply means that this synth is Awesome! See the

Vintage Synth Explorer article here: http://www.vintagesynth.com/roland/juno106.php

Detail
Detail

It was fully serviced and tested by Synth Service Melbourne about 1 year ago. Each of the voice chips were replaced with newer, more stable chips that solves one of the issues that the Juno-106 commonly has. (Note: this makes no difference to the original timbre of the synth) http://www.synthservicemelbourne.com.au

Detail

In excellent working condition. Comes with original case as seen in the images. However, the case is in a bit crappy condition as you can see. Owning this synth is owning part of synthesis and music history. Pickup from Brunswick, Melbourne only. I don’t want to ship this.

Note: This is the Japanese version of the synthesiser. It only runs on 100v power so you will need a separate step-down power converter for this to operate in Australia. This is not included with the synth. I bought my step down converter for about $100 at Dick Smith.

70s model Oberheim OB-1 with newly refurbished keyboard. Take a look at the pictures, she’s in great shape for her age. Super fat sound. Geddy Lee used an OB1 on Permanet Waves album. This board is very unique. It has a bad pot but I can’t figure out which one it is because it rarely happens. Every once in a blue moon you’ll hear some noise or static. It sounds just like when you’re listening to AM radio when a thunderstorm is near, same sound. I’m sure it’s an easy fix since these are really primitive compared to the OBXa and later models.
